Thousands risking flu by shunning vaccine

  • GPs have, on average, given 106 fewer flu jabs each than this time last year
  • Some doctors say their surgery fridges are ‘full’ of unused vaccines
  • Lower effectiveness of last year’s jab may have ‘put people off’ having it
  • At risk patients include elderly, pregnant and those with health conditions

Uptake rates of the winter flu vaccines in the UK are down 6% on last year, according to figures from the Royal College of General Practitioners as Public Health England and NHS Choices release new videos aimed at improving uptake.
