Flu-tackling molecule found by Cardiff University

The findings of new research into the effects of the L-selectin molecule have been published in the journal Cell Reports.

Dr Ann Ager, research lead from Cardiff University said the findings were ‘significant’, but further studies were needed before the findings could benefit patients.

She said: “Now we know what directs the body’s killer T cells to an area of infection, increasing the expression of this homing molecule will, in theory, increase the number of killer T cells at the site of infection and boost the killing of the virus.”
