Piper Lowery, a 12 year old old girl from the US State of Washington died in mid-January just four days after showing flu-like symptoms.
Upon showing symptoms, her mother, who also had the flu, took her daughter to see a doctor immediately. She was told to return to a physician if her condition did not improve.
Dr Susan Turner, from the Kitsap County health district in Washington expressed her condolences to the Lowery family, and warned that ‘Having your children and yourselves vaccinated is the best way you can protect your children from the flu’.
